Principal's Message.  

A Fast Finish to a Fantastic Year!

As we come to the end of another wonderful school year, I want to thank our students, families, and staff for your continued support and partnership. Together, we have created a year filled with learning, growth, and memorable experiences. We are incredibly proud of our students and all they have accomplished this year. Their hard work, perseverance, and kindness have helped make Lockwood a special place to learn and grow.

As many of you know, Assistant Principal Rachelle Gardner and I began our journey at Lockwood together three years ago. During that time, Rachelle has been an unwavering advocate for students, a supportive partner to staff, and a trusted resource for families. Her positive attitude, compassion, dedication, and commitment to building strong relationships have helped shape the caring and welcoming culture we enjoy today. She has made a lasting impact on our school, and the Lockwood community will miss her greatly.

As we plan for the upcoming school year, I also want to share that due to decreased enrollment, Lockwood will no longer have an Assistant Principal position. While this change is difficult, we remain committed to providing an outstanding educational experience for every student and maintaining the strong sense of community that makes Lockwood such a special place.

We are grateful for Rachelle's leadership and the many contributions she has made during her time here. Please join me in thanking Rachelle for her service and wishing her all the best in her next chapter. Her impact on our students, staff, and families will be felt for years to come.

Wishing you all a safe, relaxing, and fun-filled summer. We look forward to welcoming everyone back in the fall, refreshed and ready for another great year at Lockwood!

A message from Rachelle

I am deeply saddened to be leaving Lockwood as I absolutely love this community, including all your amazing children. Three years ago, I was beyond thrilled to be placed at Lockwood as it was an opportunity to serve my own community and build relationships with students and families close to home. I have made so many great memories at Lockwood as a staff member and look forward to continuing being a part of the community in the role of a parent. Lockwood is such a special school. The teachers and staff are incredible. You, the families, are amazing and supportive. And most importantly, the students are extraordinary. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so much for letting me be a part of your child's education. I can't wait to hear what great things they accomplish in the future.

The last Spirit Day for this year is next Friday, June 6th and the theme is Look Alike Day

Student YouTube Access

Beginning May 1, 2026, Lockwood students will no longer have independent access to YouTube when using their school‑issued device and school account, both at school and at home.

Elementary students are still developing the self‑regulation and media literacy skills needed to navigate open platforms independently. This decision supports developmentally appropriate use of technology and supports classroom focus and instructional time. 

Teachers will still be able to share specific YouTube videos as appropriate to support instruction, without giving students independent access to YouTube.

Summer Chromebook Guidelines & Actions Required 

Please review the summer Chromebook procedures below based on your student's current grade level. 

💻 4th & 5th Graders

Students currently in 4th and 5th grade who are returning to any NSD school next year will keep their assigned Chromebook, charger, and case over the summer for educational use.

  • Care: Students are expected to keep devices charged, use the protective case, and follow standard district care guidelines.
  • Summer Insurance: The 2025-26 Device Protection Program (DPP) covers devices through the summer. If you haven't purchased it yet, you can still do so to ensure summer coverage at go.nsd.org/DPP.
  • Opt-Out: If you do not want your student to bring their device home for the summer, please complete the Opt-Out Form by Monday, June 8th.
  • Technical Support: For troubleshooting, tech support, or to report device damage over the summer, please submit a help ticket at go.nsd.org/studenttechhelp.

🏫 2nd & 3rd Graders

In line with Lockwood’s current practice, 2nd and 3rd-graders will leave their Chromebooks at school over the summer.

  • Summer Access Request: If your student needs their device for continued summer learning, you may request that it be sent home by completing this Google Form by Monday, June 8th.
  • Expectations: Summer devices must be used strictly for learning purposes and must be returned to school on or before the first day of the 2026-27 school year.

🛑 Withdrawing Students

If your student is withdrawing from the Northshore School District and will not be returning for the 2026-27 school year, please note the following:

  • Action Required: If you have not already notified the school office, please complete the withdrawal form as soon as possible: go.nsd.org/LWWithdrawal.
  • Device Return: All assigned technology—including chargers, bags, and accessories—must be returned before the student's last day. Please note: Fines will be issued for unreturned items.

Meds Pick-up by Noon, June 17th

Planning has begun to close out the school year. As we come closer to summer break, please ensure that medications in the Health Room are picked up and signed out by a parent/guardian/adult family member or emergency contact for student. Rescue medications for students with life-threatening illnesses must be present in the health room until the last day your student will be attending. For example, epinephrine, diastat/midazolam, insulin. 

All medications need to be picked up on or before Wednesday, June 17th, by 12:30. Any medications not picked up will be promptly disposed of. The processing of leftover medication will begin promptly at 12:30—medications will no longer be accessible to the nurse once they have been sealed up for transport (they will be in with other student’s medications)—and the nurse will be leaving for the District Office shortly after school has dismissed. We cannot store any medications over the summer. 

With written/email permission from parent/guardian, inhalers (only) can be sent home with the student at the end of the school year*, even if they were not approved to self-carry/self-administer. I will need the written permission no later than Tuesday June 16th—so that I am able to distribute the inhalers during the day on the 17th. *If your student does not have life-threatening asthma, their inhaler may be picked up or scheduled to go home prior to the last day of school at parent discretion. 

State law requires that a child with a life-threatening condition must have medication and treatment orders in place on or before the child's first day of school. As a result, students with life-threatening allergies that require Epi-Pens, students with seizures, diabetes, or any other condition considered life threatening or medically complex will need to have medication and treatment orders signed (by a medical provider) and in place at school on or before the first day of attendance: https://www.nsd.org/schools/get-started/health-services/students-with-life-threatening-conditions. If you have any questions about this law, please reach out. 

The nurse will be available to drop off medications for the 2026-2027 school year August 26th-29th and August 31st from 9:15-3:45. For select students, parent/teacher/nurse meetings will take place during this time as well. You will receive an outreach once teacher assignments are known and the availability of the teachers have been shared (there are a lot of required meetings and trainings for teachers during this time period).

If you have never used ParentVUE, you will need to request an activation key. If you have accessed ParentVUE in the past or enrolled online, please click the "Forgot Password" link on the ParentVUE login page.

Change in After School Plans

Any changes to your student’s normal routine must be confirmed with a written note from a parent or guardian. If a note is not possible, please call the office at 425-408-5800 by:

  • 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday

This ensures the teacher has time to make necessary arrangements.

Please do not email staff, as absences or substitutes may prevent timely communication.

Students NOT returning to Lockwood

If your student will not be returning to Lockwood or enrolling in an NSD middle school for the 2026–27 school year, please let us know as soon as possible by completing this Google Form: https://go.nsd.org/lwwithdrawal.

Families withdrawing from the Northshore School District are expected to return all district-issued property, including library books and devices with accessories, including bags and chargers, before the student’s last day.

🥚 EGG DROP - June 5th!

The all-school, PACE-sponsored EGG DROP is happening on June 5th - and every student is invited to participate!

How it works:

  • Design and build your egg-protecting device at home
  • Bring your project to school on June 5th
  • Check -in at the station by 9:25 am

Registration:

Please register by Friday, May 29th to participate.

Grade - level options:

  • Grades K-3: May include a parachute
  • Grades 4-5: Try the "Egg Drop with a Splat!" challenge

Every participant will receive a prize, and eggs that survive the drop will earn a blue ribbon!

Volunteers Needed! Parents are encouraged to sign up and help make this event a success!

Northshore School District's Early Childhood Programs

"Northshore School District's Early Childhood Programs are currently enrolling eligible 3-4 year old students into our free preschool programs for the 2026-27 school year. NSD currently offers two different free preschool programs in the Northshore district, Head Start (Woodmoor Elementary) and Ready Start (Sorenson Early Childhood Center).

In order to enroll your child for the current 2026-2027 school year, your child must have turned 3 on or before 8/31/2026.
