Principal's Message.

Row of students sitting at a teable.

I can’t believe it’s already November! As we enter this season of gratitude, I want to take a moment to reflect on the many things we are thankful for in our school community. I truly appreciate the efforts of our students, staff, and families who make Lockwood such a special place.

Thank you all for contributing to a successful Superintendent and School Board visit on October 21st. Our visitors had so many wonderful things to say about Lockwood! They praised the high level of engagement and dynamic teaching practices they observed, and they were especially impressed by our amazing panel of students who thoughtfully answered and asked questions. Our students even advocated for a new playground with a merry-go-round and a zip-line—let’s see what happens with the February levy! Thank you again for making Lockwood a welcoming place for everyone who visits.

This month, we will be focusing on kindness and community involvement. With parent-teacher conferences and Thanksgiving activities just around the corner, November offers wonderful opportunities to connect, share ideas, and celebrate our students’ growth and achievements.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Together, we are fostering a positive, caring environment where every student can thrive.

Wishing you all a joyful and meaningful November!

In partnership,

Sam Ramirez

Northshore Schools Foundation - Holiday Gift Card Drive

The Northshore Schools Foundation (NSF) is excited to announce the launch of this year’s Holiday Gift Card Drive! In partnership with the Assistance League of the Eastside, NSF will distribute 500 Operation School Bell gift cards to Northshore students in need.

This year, the need is greater than ever, as many families continue to face food insecurity and uncertainty around SNAP benefits. The Holiday Gift Card Drive aims to provide additional support and help ensure that every family in our community can enjoy a brighter, more secure holiday season.

Veterans Day Assembly

Lockwood is proud to announce that our Veterans Day Assembly will be held on Friday, November 7th, from 2:50 to 3:20 p.m. in the Lockwood Gym.

We look forward to honoring and recognizing the service of our veterans and active-duty military members within the Lockwood community. All veterans and active military personnel are cordially invited to attend.

Guests are asked to check in at the main office upon arrival. The assembly will begin promptly at 2:50 p.m.

Become a Colunteer (Classroom/Field Trip)

All volunteers in Northshore are required to complete an online volunteer application to volunteer during the school year. It is also important to note that all volunteers who have completed a background check in the past will be expected to renew their volunteer application annually. If you completed a Level 2 background check in the past, you will only need to complete a Level 1 check to renew your volunteer status.

Join the Lunch Recess Volunteer Team

Our playground volunteers help make Lockwood a safe and fun place to be by helping kids in small ways like tying shoes, to bigger ways like giving gentle reminders of school policy, reporting incidents to playground staff and building social skills. This is a great way to get to know our school and Lockwood students of all ages!

We are looking for volunteers on Mondays and Fridays. Our mid week days are at capacity for recess volunteers. If interested, use the link below after you have read through Northshore School District Volunteer Orientation and completed your volunteer background check (see Become a Volunteer above).

Change in After School Plans

Any changes to your student’s normal routine must be confirmed with a written note from a parent or guardian. If a note is not possible, please call the office at 425-408-5800 by:

  • 3:30 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday
  • 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday

This ensures the teacher has time to make necessary arrangements.

Please do not email staff, as absences or substitutes may prevent timely communication.

Election Day

Tuesday, November 4 is Election Day, and there are many important local, state, and federal measures and positions on the ballot. Please remember to vote by November 4. To learn more about registering to vote, returning your ballot, or checking the status of your returned ballot, please visit our Voter Resources website.

Lost and Found FULL

Take a minute to Check the Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing, and we need your help as we prepare for the colder months ahead! In the spirit of generosity and community support, we will continue our tradition of donating any unclaimed items to local charities and organizations during winter break—helping ensure that warm clothing reaches those who need it most.
