Safety First

Student safety is our utmost priority. Two of the busiest times of the day on our campus are during the arrival and dismissal of over 500 students and staff.

Please take a moment to familiarize yourself with your student arrival and departure process and parking lot guidelines. Thank you for working in partnership with us in order to keep our students and staff members safe, as well as keeping the traffic in the parking lot flowing smoothly!

Student Transporation Options

Drop Off & Pick Up

Arrival

Morning car drop off is in the Lockwood main parking lot. Students may arrive on campus no earlier than 9:10 AM.

Please do not have children leave your vehicle until they have been assisted by safety patrol or staff.

Departure

Lockwood uses two pick-up zones for afternoon pick up:

Lockwood's main parking lot is for students in grades Kindergarten to 2nd AND their older siblings.

Students will be escorted to the parent pick-up area and lined up by grade level.

Kenmore Middle School (KMS) North parking lot is for students in grades 3-5.

Students will wait at Lockwood for the safety patrol and Staff Supervisor and be escorted on the gravel trail to the KMS Northwest Parking lot as a group.

Kenmore MS has been gracious enough to allow us the use of their school site to help alleviate the traffic congestion which allows for a more seamless and timely dismissal. Considering the support of KMS for after school pick-up, families need to abide by the following requests from the KMS administration:

Recognize that KMS athletics dismiss at the same time as LW
When picking up your child(ren), families need to STAY in their vehicle
Families should ONLY be using the BACK LOOP for pick-up
Families should NOT park in the front lot or along the bus lanes to get out and walk to get their child (this impacts the ability for busses to get in and out in an expedient manner)

Park & Pick up/Drop Off

Parents will continue to be asked to street park and wait at one of the crosswalks if they are walking or wish to park and get out to drop off or pick up their student(s).

Either wait on the far side of the upper crosswalk or may wait on the school-side next to the lower crosswalk/staff parking. Students walking to lower pedestrian pick-up should use the lower crosswalk and NOT walk across the car loop traffic.

Walking

Suggested walking paths and Staying Safe information can be found on the district's Walking to School Page. We encourage each family to review this information to find the safest way for their student.

Arrival

Students walking to school should enter campus from Lockwood Rd at either the upper or lower crosswalk.

Departure

In addtion to the upper and lower crosswalks on Lockwood Rd, students walking home can do so from the KMS pick up zone.

Bus

Arrival

Bus riders go from their buesses to morning recess, breakfast, and/or line up spots.

Departure

Bus riders will be escorted to the bus area and line up in the appropriate bus line at dismissal.

Bike

Students riding a bicycle to school, where it is safe to do so, creates greater transportation flexibility for families, allows students to exercise greater independence, and promotes positive physical health.

NSD's Bike to School Agreement and Consent From must be completed and on file with the Lockwood office for students to participate.

PTA Bike Safety for Lockwood Students Program

One of the requirements to be allowed to bike to Lockwood is passing a qualifying bike safety course. To help this happen for families, the PTA is proudly backing a new “Lockwood Bike Safety Program.”

Volunteer and Visitor Parking

The parking lot to the East of the main office area is reserved for staff ONLY. The area directly in front of the gym and along the sidewalk in this lot is for bus drop off and pick up. These areas need to remain vehicle free from 8:55am to 9:20am and then from 3:45pm to 4:20pm. When a bus is blocked in or cannot enter the lot, their schedule is impacted, thus students arrive late to school or getting home. Please park only in the guest parking lot or along the street outside of the school.
