Shirley Parrott

After attending Issaquah High School, I graduated from Seattle Pacific College with a major in General Science. I earned my Masters in Teaching from Grand Canyon University, and in 2010 I earned my National Board Certification in Literacy.

I started my career teaching in a resource room for about 12 years, and then moved into the regular education classroom at Suquamish Elementary, a rural school on a reservation. I've taught kindergarten, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, and 6th grade, and I have been a learning specialist working with gifted, ELL, learning disabled, and behaviorally challenged students. I moved to Lockwood Elementary to teach 5th grade PACE, which I really enjoyed.

I am married, I have three grown children, and I have 9 grandchildren. The twin boys live in Saudi Arabia, three boys live in Boston, and the last two girls and two boys live in Edmonds. I enjoy gardening, researching, beach-combing, reading, and teaching!

I am really looking forward to this next year!
